We had Ryan's birthday party on Saturday. It was so much fun, and Ryan did much better than I expected. He gets a little overwhelmed with a lot of people around, so we tried to keep it small and low-key. He loved his cake and we are definitely stocked up with trucks and cars--which are Ryan's favorite toys!

Happy Birthday Ryan!!

Hard to believe, but my baby is one! We went to the carousel today with friends to celebrate. Ryan would not get on a horse, but we had fun sitting on the bench and riding! It has been such a great year with him--for the most part, he has been an easy baby, but he does have his quirks! The stranger and separation anxiety is in full force and he takes awhile to warm up to new situations. He loves to laugh when others laugh and he sings along with me in the car! Ryan is constantly in motion and does not really like to be held, unless you are going to carry him around! He will give Mommy kisses and hugs and he still carries around the socks! He is very close to taking his first steps and is wanting to be very independent. He no longer wants any baby food, unless he controls the spoon. Mealtimes have gotten messier! He is so much fun and I can't wait for the next year!

He is Risen!
We had a wonderful, low key Easter! We went to church, had brunch and enjoyed the service. Ryan got to open his Easter basket and mommy got a nap!!
Last Easter: Two weeks old! This Easter: Almost a year!

Here is Ryan ready to eat at church.

We will miss you Julie!
Julie (in gray) with her best friend JamieA good friend, Julie Marples went to be with the Lord this week. Julie had cystic fibrosis and had a lung transplant a few years ago. Julie was such a good friend--she was always ready to listen and she took a genuine interest in others. I remember always loving to work with Julie at the pool, that way I always had someone fun to talk to on my breaks! Julie helped me a lot when we were at PLU. It was so nice to have a friend there to talk to that was familiar! When you are meeting so many new people, its nice to have someone who you don't have to introduce yourself to. Julie was always up for some girl time and ready with an encouraging word. I'm so glad I was able to meet up with Julie over Thanksgiving, catch up and spend time with her.
Julie--we love you and miss you, but we know you are having a blast in Heaven rejoicing in God's presence!

Are we in trouble?
Today, Ryan figured out that the coffee table moves. And he pushed it all over the living room! I got some video of it. He has pushed chairs before, but this seems a little different. Should I be nervous about what may be coming? Is this a little boy thing???

A-Okay!
We went to the dr. yesterday, and she was so happy about how well Ryan was doing! His lungs sounded good and his oxygen levels were up to the right levels. So, now I need to learn how to stop being a paranoid mommy! I'm not really comfortable putting him in the church nursery, because it seems like each week he is there, he ends up being sick. But, since he will be home with Jamie this weekend, it might be out of my control. Ryan might be better, but I think I still have some issues to deal with!!

Getting back to normal...
We were able to come home on Thursday afternoon, and Ryan is continuing to get better. Some of his medications were making him very grumpy and defiant, and Jamie and I were ready to call Supernanny! Today, he seems more like his usual self. His appetite is back and he ate a quarter of a grilled cheese for lunch today. I'm so glad to have my happy baby back!
