What TV Mom Are You?

Take this test!
You are Claire Huxtable from The Cosby Show. You have high expectations for your children, just like you have high expectations for yourself. You've probably got your own life and your own career, but nothing is more fun than spending time with your family. You may be a professional woman, but you enjoy getting silly with the kids sometimes.

You want good kids, but you also want them to be successful, smart individuals who can speak their minds — as long as they do so respectfully. While you enjoy being the kind of mom that your kids can come to with a problem, you are not afraid to set them straight when they're acting badly. When it comes to discipline, you try treat your kids like adults, talking calmly and coolly. And that's ultimately why they're going to grow up with such unwavering respect for you — as both a mother and a successful person.

Playing in the Sand

Ryan got a sandbox for Christmas from my parents. We filled it up and he LOVES it! There's just something about boys and getting dirty!

Picture Overload!

I have been really bad about downloading pictures lately, so here are some pics of what we've been up to!

Ryan and I at my parents' house enjoying the sun!

Steps are his favorite thing! That is all he wanted to do while we were there!

Thank You!

I am so thankful for my wonderful husband. Ryan was not feeling 100% today--a gunky nose and maybe teething too. So, we weren't going to take him to church and switch off staying home. Jamie told me that he would stay home both services and I could go to church AND the Nordstrom sale! So, I did and it was nice to sit through an entire service without being paged. Anyway, I came home, we had lunch etc. and when it was time for Ryan's nap, I put him down and went and laid down myself. Apparently, Ryan only slept about 20 minutes, however, I slept an hour and a half. Jamie let me sleep and rocked the cranky baby! Thank you honey!

Digital Scrapbooking!

Jamie got me the Creative Memories digital scrapbooking software for my birthday. I finally had some time to try it out last night. It took me a little bit to figure it out (since I didn't go through the tutorial first!), but I love it! I did a new siggy for my bulletin board last night--not super fancy, but it was a good project to play around with. Here it is!

Cleaning..

I hate to clean. I love the results, but I hate cleaning! I have tried flylady, but really struggle with it. My new modified fly lady method, is to clean one room in my house each day. My friend Jill, who is a cleaning guru, says that if you do this, you actually accomplish something, instead of doing a lot of things half way. I'm on board, so I'm working on it!! Of course, I'm sitting in my worst room right now, and am so overwhelmed by clutter, that it is hard to know where to begin!!

Slow Blogging Week!

Well, the title says it all! I just have not felt like there was much to blog about this week. Apparently, a lot of others have felt the same way--there hasn't been too much activity on many of the blogs I read either.
Ryan and I are struggling through another naptime right now--him not sleeping, me trying to pack to go to Yakima for the weekend. It's going to be a hot one, drink water and use sunscreen!!

No Nap??

Yesterday, Ryan took a two and a half hour afternoon nap and a three hour morning nap. Today, he took a normal 2 hour morning nap and is refusing to take his afternoon nap. Seriously? How can a child need so much sleep one day and not sleep at all the next? I tried for an hour and a half to get him to nap and then got him up. He usually goes down without fussing and goes right to sleep. Not today! We played for awhile, he had a snack and I just put him back down. It is quiet right now, so maybe he will take a short catnap before dinner. Naptime is when I try to get stuff done, but it is hard for me to do things when I hear a crying baby on the monitor!

Happy Mother's Day!

I really have mixed feelings about mother's day to be completely honest. My birthday always falls right around (or on!) Mother's Day, and sometimes gets lost in the shuffle. So, Mother's Day is one of those holidays that I can take or leave. (No offense to my own mother, I'm happy to celebrate her, but I'm not into making it a huge deal for myself.) So, today was very low key, but nice! Jamie got up with Ryan at 6, so I got to sleep in! Yay! We went to church and after we got home, I got pink roses from "Ryan." Ryan and I both got afternoon naps and we got Applebee's to go for dinner! Then, I rented 27 Dresses and enjoyed a chick flick on the couch! All in all, a good day!
Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful moms!

No more crawling!

Today, Ryan decided he wasn't going to crawl anymore! He has been taking steps for about a month, and getting better at walking each day. He would fall and then start crawling. Today, he would fall, pick himself up and keep walking! He was so excited that he could walk so far! He walked all over church tonight and wore himself out!! No more baby, he is definitely a toddler!

SUN!!

I am so excited to see the sun (and for my pasty white legs to see it too!) For some reason, the rain has gotten to me this year more than in years past. Could it be because I have a very active 1 year old who throws fits when he can't go outside? I really just am so ready for some warm weather and time to enjoy the outdoors. I have such a hard time working inside on days like today! I have been known to take a bucket of books outside and let my kinders read in the sunshine, just so we can get out! I will confess also, that when I was trying to pick a major in college, the thought of having only a couple more summer vacations was very grim, and I finally decided on education! (And I felt like the Lord was calling me to teach too, of course!)
And, the countdown begins: 24 more days of school, then summer!!!!

May Day!

Do you remember leaving may flowers for people when you were little?? I remember leaving flowers on the doorstep, ringing the doorbell and running. I did a little research--and you are supposed to leave the flowers at someone's door or on the handle anonymously. If you get caught, you have to get kissed! Well, my kinders made mayflower baskets today (I left out the kissing part with them, didn't want any angry parents!), and in the spirit of May Day, Ryan and I left some mayflowers for our neighbors!! (I can post that and still be anonymous, because they don't read my blog!!) Someone left us mayflowers right after we moved in, and it was so neat, so we thought we'd brighten someone else's day! Let's see how many others can get in the spirit and deliver some may flowers!! (If you do, comment and tell me about it!!)
