10 Months!

It doesn't seem like 10 months could have already passed, but Ryan turned 10 months today! He is such a happy baby and has gotten so big! He is crawling all over the place and pulls himself to stand on everything! He says, mama, dada, ball, and bye bye. He is so interested in his surroundings and loves to just look around when we are in a new place. He waves and gets so excited when you wave back at him! He loves to play with his toys and is very quick to smile and laugh. Peekaboo is the favorite game of the moment and he wants to play nonstop! He is eating lots now, and we are working on getting some finger foods into the mix. He loves his mommy and hates the church nursery (we are working on this). He moved into his convertible seat this week and is due for his second haircut next week. He is turning into such a little boy!

Picky Eater?

As a first time mom, I don't know all of the "normal" things that babies do, and so I worry when Ryan does them. Are babies usually picky when trying new foods? Ryan rejects almost all new foods the first few times he tries them and it is hard to know if he really doesn't like things, or if it is just a new taste he needs to get used to. We are also trying to move away from pureed food, but unless it is pureed, he doesn't want it....unless it is on Mommy's plate!

De-Stressing

I think that one of the best things is being able to relax, de-stress and not think about everything else that is going on in your life for a few hours. For me, it just puts me in a better mood and gives me a little perspective. I know that everyone has their own way that they relax best--for me it is being around people. Tonight, I was able to do this. I left my sickies (Ryan and Jamie) at home with their germs and went to Bunco. Just being around friends, not worrying about messy diapers and all the things I still need to do, has done wonders for my state of mind! I am just more relaxed and less worried about all the things that seemed so huge a couple of hours ago. I didn't even go far--just right around the corner, but what a difference!

Ryan was a little crabby last night and wouldn't eat. I figured he just wasn't hungry and then he threw up. And threw up again and again and again. Eight clothes changes later (between all three of us), Ryan seemed to be feeling a little better. We did make him stay in the kitchen and play cause we were tired of cleaning the carpets! He went to bed and slept all night long! He seems to be feeling better today--just really tired. Poor baby! This is the first time he's been sick like this and it's rough! Parenting isn't for wimps!!

Pancakes

Today, we got a call early this morning and school was delayed for 2 hours because of ice. Yay! So, I decided to take advantage of the extra time and try a new recipe for pancakes. We have been trying to get Ryan to eat some more finger foods, but so many of them have ingredients that he just can't have yet. But, I found a recipe for egg-free whole wheat pancakes in my babyfood cookbook. I made them, and they were NOT good!! Jamie tried one bite and said,
"I'm not sure if I can eat these." Of course, with enough syrup, you can eat almost anything! Ryan didn't like them either--unless I dipped them into his fruit puree first. I think if I tweek the recipe a little and add some banana or applesauce, they might be sweeter and taste better. Why is it that in order to eat more healthful foods, you so often have to sacrifice taste????

Jumping on the bandwagon...

Okay, so I'm finally doing it! Jumping on the blogging bandwagon. So many people I know are bloggers and I love checking out what their families are doing. I have thought about creating a blog for awhile, and while I'm not sure how much I'll be able to keep up with it, I'm excited to be able to post all the news from our family!!
