Going Crazy!

You know when you have one of those days and everything seems to go wrong, all at the same time?? Well, today is that day!
Ryan is finishing his lunch and ends his meal by throwing the remaining spaghetti noodles on the floor. He is covered with sauce and I clean him up, then get the broom for the noodles. As I start to sweep, I see....ANTS! I hate ants more than anything! So, I get out the flour. I read that if you put a line of flour on the floor, the ants won't cross it. True--they won't but then you have flour all over your floor.
So, my floor is floured and I call Jamie to find the location of the ant spray. I go get the spray out of the garage and come back to find that Ryan is stomping through the flour. So, I clean his shoes and since I don't really feel great about spraying poison with Ryan there, we go outside. He wanted in his sandbox and so I left him there for a second while I sprayed the ants.
I come back to check on him, and he's grunting....yep, filling his pants. I wasn't sure if he was done, so I went back in, opened windows and then came back out and started to play in the sand with him--forgetting that he has a huge messy.
So, I get him out of the sand and he is filthy. As I brush him off, I remember the messy diaper! So, I take him in and change him. There is sand all over the changing table and Ryan has a little redness on his bottom, so I get the Desitin out. As I am finishing changing him, Ryan sticks his hands in the Desitin and rubs it in his hair. Great!
So, I clean Ryan's hands and hair and put him down. Then, I work on cleaning the changing table and finally go to wash my hands.
I come out of the restroom, hands clean and see Ryan. He is sitting in the hallway with both hands in the Vaseline.
Seriously??? (Remember, my kitchen floor is still covered with flour and ant spray!)
So, I start sweeping the flour (the ants are dead) and look up to find Ryan trying to unplug the fan. And there's still an hour 'til naptime!
Wouldn't worry so much about my floury sticky floor, but I have a sitter coming in an hour to watch Ryan while I go to the doctor. She may wonder why my child is covered with sand, Vaseline and Desitin and why my kitchen floor has a sticky flour paste on it.
Oh, and Jamie? No, I haven't gotten your softball stuff washed yet.

The Laundry Mafia

I have no idea why he has his shades on--but he was just
emptying the laundry basket and it was too funny not to take
pictures! Please ignore the sheer volume of laundry in the
basket, we just got home from vacation!

Blast from the Past

For the last few days, we have been up in Yakima visiting my parents and my grandma. (I'll post pics when we get home, I forgot my camera cable!) Anyway, today Jamie and I took Ryan swimming at Franklin Pool with our friends Jamie and Jason and their kids. Well, we had a blast and Ryan did really well. It felt really strange going to Franklin as a patron, since I worked there for 6 years! (Jamie too!) The lifeguards just looked SO young and just being there brought back so many memories! It was so good to catch up with friends, but also strange, since we hadn't seen Jamie and Jason since any of us had kids! We haven't gotten to hang out with them since we were just college students! They are the great kind of friends that you can just pick up where you left off with, and I'm hoping it won't be another 5 years before we see them again!

ANOTHER ear infection!

I took Ryan to the doctor today, and he has another double ear infection. He had one two weeks ago, and I'm not sure that it really cleared up last time. He has had so many ear infections, so I requested a referral to an ear, nose and throat doctor. I feel like he is always on antibiotics and sick! Hopefully, the doctor can give us some answers and help these to clear up!

The crazy mixed up schedule day!

Today is the beginning of our first week of summer! Ryan woke up a little before 6 with a leaky diaper and wet jammies. We got him up, changed him, gave him breakfast and enjoyed our super happy baby! Jamie left for work around 7 and Ryan had a total meltdown. He cried, threw a fit because he couldn't go out to play and I couldn't get him interested in anything! After 40 minutes, I put him down for a nap. He usually doesn't go to nap until 9, but I wasn't sure what else to do! He fell right asleep and slept for 2 hours! Guess he was tired! He took an early (and very short) afternoon nap and wouldn't go back to sleep. So, we played for about an hour in the living room. Then, he started grabbing his blankie and laying down with it in the living room. Sometimes it is a game, but he wasn't getting up quickly, so I put him in his crib. He is quiet in there, so maybe he will finish his nap! I know that this is no big deal to some people, but Ryan is like clockwork with his routine. He naps everyday at the same time and almost never deviates! I love it and days like today throw me for a loop!
UPDATE: I should know better to assume that a quiet baby is sleeping. What I assumed was sleep was really Ryan quietly filling his pants! It still remains to be seen if he will go back to sleep!

A Nasty Fall!

Friday night, I was making dinner and Jamie comes in the house holding Ryan, who is crying. He tells me, "It's not as bad as it looks." Great, exactly what a mommy wants to hear! Ryan fell on the sidewalk, caught himself, but then fell forwards. Ryan's nose is all bloody and he has a huge scrape on his forehead. We got him cleaned up and he was happy again (especially when it was dinnertime!). It has since scabbed over, but I think we are in for a few more scrapes, especially when we have a little boy who wants to do things all by himself!

First Day of Summer!

I am off for the summer!!! Yay! I worked a couple extra hours on Wednesday and Thursday so I could get my classroom cleaned and not have to go back in today. So, today Ryan and I went to Corban to sort out a few things, we took a walk and we played in the backyard. I have a list as long as my arm of things I want to do. I want to get the things finished that I have been neglecting around the house and get things cleaned out and organized. I probably should stop blogging and start on my list!!

LAST DAY!!

School's out!!! YAY!!! I'm so happy to be done with this year! It has definitely been a challenge and I'm so excited to be DONE!! (okay, yes I do work the rest of the week, but that is not the point!) I'm ready to be home for the summer, to hang out with my little guy in the backyard (maybe in parkas the way June has been going), and to have a lazy summer!

Bumps and Scrapes and Bruises, Oh my!

Ryan has really been moving lately and wants to go everywhere by himself. Even if it means stepping down off the patio or trying to run in the driveway. So, we have had four big spills in the last two days, in which he has hit the table, the coffee table and wiped out face first in the rocks and on the driveway. Poor baby looks like he's been beat up! He is fine and smiley a couple minutes after each fall, but I feel like some one is going to call children's services for my poor bruised baby!

What a LONG day!

Today, I did something I haven't done in awhile...I worked a full 8 hour day! I had the opportunity to go to a training in Portland and hear an amazing presentation. I haven't done any full days or trainings this whole school year, but I really didn't want to miss this one. So, I carpooled up with other teachers and we hit the road at 7:15 a.m. Great speaker, productive discussion, yummy lunch and we headed back to Salem at 3. Then off to the ESD for another work thing--this time a celebration. More yummy food, fun times, but I didn't get home until 6:30 tonight! I'm feeling so blessed that I am able to just work part time! As nice as it was to be with friends and colleagues, I missed my baby! That hour and a half before bed was just not enough for me! I know that lots of my mom friends do it every day--and they are superwomen! This day was fun and very long, but it really made me thankful for the opportunity to be home part-time!
