Bye-Bye Binky!

Jamie and I were putting Ryan to bed last night and realized his binky was in the living room, not in his bed. Jamie suggested that we put him to bed without it, and go cold turkey with the binky. Many of you know that I have been waffling on taking the binky away, but wasn't sure now was the right time. SO, I agreed and he did great last night. It took him longer to fall asleep than usual, but he went down with minimal fussing. I was a little nervous about naptime! I put him down for the morning nap and he is MAD! He has been crying for 20 minutes, so I turned off the monitor and came into the den so I couldn't hear him. I'm not going to give the binky back, but this is really bad timing! My mom is coming today, my final paper is due Monday and Ryan has his ear tube surgery on Monday. Then, a week from Tuesday is when I go back to work! I'm hoping that we can get him used to sleeping without it by then!

I'm staying strong, I'm not giving it back. I'm staying strong, I'm not giving it back....(I may have to just keep repeating this to myself!)

UPDATE: Ryan took 45 minutes this morning, but finally fell asleep. This afternoon, he was in his bed for 2 hours and NEVER slept. I think we are in for a rough ride.

Ha!! Funny...but TRUE story. I took the boy's suckie away at about 18months. We had a party threw it in the garbage and went down for a nap. The nap went soooo horribily, that that evening I took the suckies out of the garbage, boiled them, and gave them back!!! Ha!! Sleep around our house is PRIME. I wasen't about to change our precious routine because of social norms. Hehehhee!! Seriously. They then had them until after two (which their pediatric destist said their teeth were great adn not to worry) and I then cut them into isty-bitsy peices so they couldn't get them back (or so I couldn't give them back). It was "easier" when they were older because they could understand the whole "big boys don't have suckies" but the sleeping was never the same. Bummer. Ryan is in our prayers and update us when he is home and recovered please! Miss you guys, Michelle
